Phased development to create first Tier III data centres in Eastern Europe
Through a strategic relationship with Hewlett Packard Critical Facilities Services we are providing the architectural services for the development of three new data centres for DataSpace in Moscow. Our involvement includes site assessment, feasibility studies, development of prototype models, detailed designs and continuing consultancy support.
The site selected for the first two facilities forms part of a de-commissioned tyre plant, four miles from the centre of Moscow. The challenge here was to convert an awkward shaped building set over five floors. Careful planning was necessary to accommodate power supplies with appropriate levels of redundancy and to achieve the client’s energy efficiency requirement for an annual PUE under 1.6, and as good as 1.3 under optimum operational conditions.
With the first facility due for commissioning in the first half of 2011, we have developed a master-plan with a potential for a total of 10,000 m2 raised floor space, and are now developing designs for a third facility on a second site to the North East of the city.
