Grove Park

A 1000-square metre new-build special needs unit meeting BREEAM standards.

Status:

Complete

Year:

Client:

London Borough of Brent

Contract value:

Constructed within the grounds of an existing school in Brent, North London, this new-build facility was designed and fully equipped to cater for the needs of sixth form students with special needs, including the severely handicapped to provide a bright and inspirational learning environment.

The unit was procured under a design and build contract and we worked collaboratively with London Borough of Brent’s consultants and main contractor Cirus, to meet client objectives. The project was delivered on time and on budget.

The building has a contemporary design with an exposed steel and glu-lam structural frame and an inverted curved roof. A key requirement was to produce a sustainable, energy efficient building without elevating the construction costs. The desired BREEAM ‘Very Good’ standard was achieved with a range of features including high daylight utilisation, solar shading and a ‘green’ sedum grass roof covering.
