Burnham Parish Council

Contract value:

£2.4 million

Our brief was to design and manage the construction of a replacement Community Centre for Burnham Parish Council. The new building provides a flexible, multi-functional and environmentally friendly space with high quality facilities for the community, council officers and local businesses.

Set in a conservation area and in the green belt, on a very prominent village green site, we were restricted to the floor area and height of the original building. A highly efficient use of space was required to achieve both the client’s objectives and planning consent. The design also needed to minimise future running costs and support the Council’s environmental credentials and DDA commitment.

The finished building enhances its conservation surroundings blending timber and brick to create open, airy spaces. Sustainability features are achieved with full height glazing and roof lights to maximise daylight within the building, while ground source energy provides the building’s heating and cooling requirements.
